There are many different affiliate programs on the web, probably tens of thousands, however Adsense is often the best in terms of ease of setting up, management, reporting, and showing relevant adverts. Once your account is set up, you simply create adverts in the Adsesne control panel. You can choose to display images, text adverts, or links, or a combination of all three. Also Adsense provides search boxes to allow users to search either your site, or the whole Internet, and you get commission if users use the sponsored (Adwords) listings.

Adverts can easily be added to just about any area of a page.  However, there is little point in adding advertising to a new website, so if you have less than 100 visitors per day, it does not always pay to have advertising. Some readers prefer a clean, advert free site, and are more likely to return or recommend it to others if there are no or minimal advertising.
